The Appendix: Transmasculine Joy in a Transphobic Culture

In 2019, Liam Konemann began collating what he called ‘The Appendix’, a simple record of ongoing transphobia in the UK that he came across in day-to-day life: from the flippant comments of peers to calculated articles and reviews in newspapers.
When the list began to take its toll on his mental health, he changed tack by asking different questions: how is beauty in transmasculinity found? And how is it maintained in a transphobic world?
The Arena of the Unwell

Noah spends his nights drifting between North London pubs and music venues, and his days sleeping off hangovers in the stock room of the floundering record shop where he works. When his favourite band Smiling Politely announce a last-minute set after years away, everything starts to shift.
Pulled into a toxic relationship with charming bartender Dylan and his brooding, enigmatic friend Fraser, Noah has to ask himself what he’s willing to lose – friendships, dignity, even his sense of self – to just feel like he belongs.
Editorial
